The district of Viana do Castelo will be under yellow warning on Sunday, September 13, due to persistently high maximum temperature values. The warning, issued by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere, is considered the least severe on a three-level scale and will be in effect between 10am and 5pm.
The city of Viana do Castelo, usually cooler and windier due to its coastal location, will experience a sharp rise in temperature, with highs of 31°C and lows of 18°C. In the interior of Alto Minho, temperatures will be even higher, reaching 35°C in municipalities such as Ponte de Lima, precisely on the day of Feiras Novas.
Authorities recommend increased caution for the population, particularly regarding hydration and sun exposure. There is also a warning about the increased danger of rural fire associated with these weather conditions.
