Portuguese researcher admits AI conceptual risks and calls for regulation

Arlindo Oliveira, former president of Instituto Superior Técnico, spoke about the conceptual risks associated with Artificial Intelligence in an interview with RTP. The Portuguese researcher acknowledged that there is no "zero risk" regarding the security and control of these technological systems.

The specialist highlighted that, although risks exist, they will be protected through adequate measures. His position comes in a context of growing worldwide concern about the accelerated development of AI.

Arlindo Oliveira defended the need to invest in regulation for the use of these systems, underscoring the importance of establishing clear rules that guide the application of Artificial Intelligence in different areas.

The interview with RTP comes at a time when the debate about artificial intelligence and its regulation has gained greater relevance globally, with various specialists and institutions warning about the need to control this technology.
