The National Republican Guard (GNR) starts today the "Safe School" Campaign for the 2026/2027 school year. This initiative aims to strengthen security in educational establishments and prevent risk situations among young people.

As part of this campaign, the authorities revealed that 2,631 crimes were recorded in school settings during the last school year. This number represents the total of crimes that occurred in Portuguese schools during that period.

The "Safe School" campaign includes awareness-raising actions and patrolling near educational establishments, seeking to create a safer environment for students, teachers, and the rest of the school community.
