Two earthquakes were recorded yesterday, on the 10th, in the Madeira region, according to data from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA). The strongest occurred at 21:31:15, north of Porto Santo, more than 150 kilometres from the main island of Madeira. The tremor had a magnitude of 2.4 and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.
Also yesterday, but during the morning, at 11:46:19, a magnitude 1.6 earthquake was recorded, at a depth of 33 kilometres, northeast of Machico. This second tremor had its epicentre closer to the main island of Madeira.
The two earthquakes were recorded on the same day, with the stronger magnitude tremor occurring during the night and the smaller magnitude one during the morning. According to IPMA data, both earthquakes were felt in the region, although with different intensities.
