The Municipality of Estarreja celebrates on September 12th the second anniversary of the Museu Fábrica da História – Arroz, with a program that includes exhibition, miniature theater and free guided visits. The museum was inaugurated after the recovery of the former Hidro-Eléctrica of Estarreja, transforming an emblematic building of the municipality's industrial and agricultural history into a space dedicated to the preservation and transmission of the memory associated with rice culture.
Over the two years of existence, the municipality promoted initiatives that brought former factory workers to share stories and experiences, as well as outdoor activities, such as visits to the rice fields with participation in tasks alongside local producers. In 2025, the sweet Estarrico was also developed, made from rice produced in the municipality, associating heritage, gastronomy and local identity.
As part of the Festival ESTAU – Estarreja Arte Urbana, the illustration exhibition "Rice Cycle", by Anabela da Silva Ferreira, will be inaugurated at the museum on September 12th, which traverses the various stages of cereal cultivation, from sowing to harvest, highlighting its economic, social and cultural importance.
On September 13th, the play "A Treasure in the Palm of Your Hand: A Tiny Story about an Immense Place in the Memory of Estarreja" premieres, a creation by Teatro e Marionetas de Mandrágora, commissioned by the municipality.
