Fire in housing leaves 72-year-old woman homeless in the municipality of Beja

A fire destroyed a home in Penedo Gordo, in the municipality of Beja, leaving a 72-year-old woman homeless. The alert was given at 21:00 on Rua da Estação, according to sources from the Sub-Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection of Baixo Alentejo and the GNR contacted by the Lus news agency.

There are no reports of injuries, but the house was left uninhabitable. At 23:10, elements from the Municipal Civil Protection Service and the Social Service of the municipality were on site assessing the situation and the possibility of rehousing the elderly woman.

Fourteen operatives from the Beja fire brigade, the GNR and the Civil Protection and Social services of the Beja City Council were mobilised to the site, supported by six vehicles.
