Fires: Nine municipalities in three districts at maximum danger

Nine municipalities in the Santarém, Portalegre and Faro districts are today at maximum danger of rural fire, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA). The affected municipalities are at maximum fire risk, which represents the highest level of danger for ignition and propagation of rural fires. IPMA is the body responsible for monitoring and evaluating meteorological conditions and fire risk in Portugal. This information alerts authorities and the population to the need for heightened vigilance and adoption of preventive measures in the face of adverse weather conditions.
