Alentejo under yellow warning this weekend due to heat

Nine districts in central and southern mainland Portugal will be under yellow warning during the weekend due to heat, according to information released today by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA). The warning is issued for "persistence of high values of maximum temperature."

The districts of Évora, Santarém, Setúbal, Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, and Portalegre will be under yellow warning starting at 10:00 on Saturday until 17:00 on Sunday.

On Sunday, between 10:00 and 17:00, the districts of Braga, Aveiro, Viana do Castelo, and Porto will also be under yellow warning.

The yellow warning is the least severe on a three-level scale and is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological conditions.
