Partly cloudy sky but with possibility of showers in Madeira

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts for this Friday, September 11, a day of partly cloudy skies in Madeira, with periods of greater cloudiness until mid-morning. There is also a possibility of weak showers until early morning.

Regarding the wind, it is expected to blow weak to moderate, with speeds between 10 to 30 km/h, coming from the northeast. At the eastern and western extremes of the island of Madeira, as well as in the highlands, the wind may blow sometimes strong, possibly reaching up to 40 km/h.

Regarding the city of Funchal, capital of the island, the sky should be partly cloudy, according to the IPMA forecasts.

Several Algarve municipalities today with "very high" fire danger

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) today placed Monchique and Portimão with "maximum" rural fire danger, while Aljezur, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira, Alcoutim and Castro Marim present "very high" danger. Vila do Bispo, Lagos and Vila Real de Santo António are at "high" danger and Lagoa, Faro, Albufeira and Olhão at "moderate". The fire danger index is calculated based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and precipitation in the previous 24 hours.
