The Ovar City Council announced the awarding of a contract for the construction of the rainwater network and flood mitigation in the area between Largo das Tricanas and Largo de Santa Camarão, in the city center. The work, integrated into the requalification and maintenance of the rainwater system, has an estimated cost of 374,711 euros, plus VAT.
The main objective of this intervention is to minimize and prevent flooding episodes that have affected this area during periods of intense rainfall. The municipal council aims to improve rainwater drainage and enhance the safety and quality of life of residents, traders, and visitors of the city.
Ovar justifies the investment stating that it continues to invest in structural works that address people's real problems and that prepare the municipality for the challenges of climate change. The intervention comes as a result of recurring flooding problems in that urban area.
