The government of Panama launched this Thursday (10/9) the Tourist Insurance, a free protection for all international travelers visiting the country. The protection will be valid for ten days and provides assistance for various cases, from document loss to medical emergencies and transfer to the country of origin.
According to the information released, the tourist will be covered from the moment they receive the passport stamp upon arrival in the country, without need for procedures or additional costs. The protection is valid for ten consecutive days and throughout the entire Panamanian territory.
The Tourist Insurance includes medical and hospital care in case of accidents or non-preexisting illnesses. The service is part of a Panamanian government initiative to boost tourism in the country.
