The mayor of Guimarães municipality, Ricardo Araújo, met this Wednesday, September 9, with the Ambassador of Uruguay at the Town Hall, expressing the intention to reinforce cooperation between Guimarães and Colonia del Sacramento, a city twinned with the Portuguese municipality.
The meeting aimed to go beyond the purely institutional dimension of the twinning between the two territories, seeking to bring together companies, universities, tourism-related entities, and other partners from both countries.
The sectors identified as having the greatest cooperation potential are innovation, digital transformation, robotics, and digital technologies, areas that align with the business fabric and the scientific and technological ecosystem existing in Guimarães.
This approach to Uruguay is part of a broader internationalization strategy for the municipality, aiming to create new opportunities in the areas of knowledge, investment, business, tourism, and cooperation with other territories.
