Old iPhone models see price hikes of up to R$ 2 thousand. Understand the reason

extra10 September 2026 at 16:47

Even with the arrival of a new generation of iPhones launched on Wednesday (the 9th), the prices of older models still on sale at the Apple store did not drop as in previous years. On the contrary, the models had adjustments of up to 14.8%. High demand from artificial intelligence (AI) data centers for memory and storage chips caused a shortage of components and pushed up global price indices for smartphones, tablets, notebooks, and other devices.

Among the older models, the one with the highest adjustments was the iPhone Air, presented last year as Apple's big novelty during that period. The 1 TB version had the highest increase, going from R$ 13,499 to R$ 15,499 — the R$ 2,000 increase represents a 14.8% rise. The 256 GB and 512 GB models increased by R$ 500, representing inflation of 4.8% and 4.2% respectively.

This year, Apple did not present a new generation of the Air, which is expected to happen in early 2027. The standard iPhone model, which also did not get a new generation this year, also underwent adjustments.
