Helmet Blessing Returns to Fátima

A Voz de Trás-os-Montes10 September 2026 at 15:51

The Helmet Blessing returns to Fátima in an edition that features the participation of motorcyclists from across the country and abroad. The ceremony will be presided over by the Patriarch of Lisbon, D. Rui Valério. The initiative continues to mobilize thousands of participants, having recorded in 2025 approximately 180,000 motorcyclists at the Prayer Grounds, a number similar to that of the previous year.

The main novelty this year is the holding, for the first time, of similar celebrations in Madeira and the Azores, on the same day and in conditions identical to those of the pilgrimage to Cova da Iria, thus expanding the reach of this initiative.

The rector of the Sanctuary of Fátima, Father Carlos Cabecinhas, sent a message to the participants inviting the motorcyclists to experience this moment of encounter, fellowship and prayer. In his message, the leader also remembered how many people have lost their lives in road accidents, appealing for prudence on the roads so that everyone can arrive at the sanctuary and return home safely.

The motorcyclists also have an active participation in the celebrations, providing various services such as welcoming pilgrims, reciting the Rosary, transporting the processional canopy, proclaiming the readings and supporting the distribution of Communion.

ERC concluded that TVI did not observe "antenna ethics" in Cristina Ferreira's interview about rape

The Regulatory Entity for Social Communication (ERC) concluded that TVI did not observe "antenna ethics" in Cristina Ferreira's interview on the 'Two at 10' program, in April, about the case of four 'influencers' accused of raping a 16-year-old teenager and filming the sexual acts in Loures in 2025. The ERC considered that the way the case was approached violated ethical principles of social communication, particularly regarding coverage of cases involving minor victims.
