IL questions Regional Government about Regional Young Talents program

jornalacores9.pt10 September 2026 at 10:49

The regional deputy from Iniciativa Liberal, Nuno Barata, questioned the Regional Government of the Azores (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM) about the Regional Young Talents program. Barata wanted to know how many athletes supported by the region actually managed to reach national high-performance level.

The parliamentarian also raised questions about the total value invested in the Regional Young Talents program, requesting concrete data on the amounts used to support young Azorean athletes.

Nuno Barata argued that high-performance sports deserve investment, but also need evaluation and monitoring of the results achieved with these public subsidies.

The deputy considered that supporting young talents should mean creating conditions for these athletes to achieve effective results, suggesting the need for a more rigorous analysis of the program's outcomes.
