Union, INEM and Ministry confirm meeting to try to avoid this month's strike

CNN Portugal10 September 2026 at 16:03

The National Union of Pre-Hospital Emergency Technicians confirmed that a meeting with INEM and the Ministry of Health is scheduled to try to avoid the strike planned for this month of September. The meeting comes at a time of tension between workers and the government.

The INEM strike is scheduled for September 14 and 28, which could cause significant disruptions to emergency medical services in Portugal during those dates.

The union and the Ministry confirmed the holding of this meeting as an attempt to find a solution that prevents the strike from taking place. The negotiations will seek to resolve the issues that are at the root of the labor conflict.

If the meeting does not result in an agreement, pre-hospital emergency services could be affected during the scheduled strike days, with potential impact on response times and assistance to the population.
