Sailors' Revolt: 90 years ago, 4 young people from Lousã faced Salazar in a fight that ended in tragedy

90 years ago, four young people from Lousã, in the interior of the district of Coimbra, participated in the Sailors' Revolt against Salazar's regime. This protest movement took place in 1936 and opposed the sailors of the Portuguese Navy to the dictatorial government of the time. The four young people from Lousã who took part in the revolt faced the authorities of the New State in an episode that became marked in local history. The revolt ended in tragedy, with the movement being repressed by Salazar's regime. The municipal council of Lousã pays homage to these four young people on Saturday, commemorating the 90 years since their participation in this uprising against the Military Dictatorship.
