The decision was led by FFF president Philippe Diallo. The change represents a reversal of the position the federation had recently adopted, when it was among the entities that signed a letter in defense of Infantino's continuation in charge of the governing body of world football.
When approached by Reuters, the French federation initially stated that the executive committee was still discussing the matter and had not officially confirmed the withdrawal of support. The FFF did not publicly comment on the reasons behind the change in position regarding the president of the entity that governs world football.
