Federal Deputy Mario Frias (PL-SP) and businesswoman Karina Ferreira da Gama, executive producer of the film "Dark Horse," a biopic of former President Jair Bolsonaro, are the main targets of the Federal Police operation investigating the film's financing. The operation targets the alleged diversion of parliamentary amendments in favor of the film, with funds destined for an organization linked to Karina.
The agents are executing 49 search and seizure warrants, ordered by Minister Flávio Dino of the Supreme Federal Court (STF). The PF states that the investigation indicates the existence of a criminal organization formed by public and private agents, suspected of directing received funds to subcontracted companies irregularly, without effective proof of the services rendered.
The alleged scheme would have remained in effect until July of this year. The Federal Police is investigating the alleged crimes of embezzlement, document forgery, money laundering, criminal organization, and bidding crimes.
