Lagoa reinforces firefighters' response capacity with 970 thousand euro investment

The Lagoa Fire Brigade received a new Forest Firefighting Vehicle, worth approximately 970 thousand euros, of which 549 thousand euros were co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the ALGARVE 2030 Regional Programme, with the Municipality of Lagoa contributing 420,900 euros. The total investment includes the acquisition of four operational protection and rescue vehicles, also including a Forest Tactical Tanker Vehicle and two Light Firefighting Vehicles. The new vehicle, a Renault D14 CCR with 4x4 drive and 280 horsepower, is equipped with a 3000-litre water tank and 300 litres of foam concentrate. The operation is part of a broader programme that finances 66 fire prevention and combat vehicles throughout the Algarve, with a total investment exceeding 16.3 million euros.

Portugal: Consumption increased 3% in value in July and August with average reaching 38 euros

In July and August, overall consumption in Portugal grew 6% in the number of operations and 3% in value, with an average value per transaction of 38 euros, according to SIBS Analytics data. The Leisure sector saw the highest growth, with a 20% increase in transactions and 7% in value, followed by Restaurants, which registered growth of 10% and 8%, respectively. Foreign tourist consumption in Portugal increased 5% in transactions and 1% in value, with French, British, Spanish, German, and American visitors being the main ones. Portuguese tourists preferred Spain as their holiday destination (13% of transactions), followed by the District of Faro and Lisbon, both with 12%.
