A sculpture in honor of children victims of stray bullets will be installed this Thursday at Parque dos Patins, at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, in Rio de Janeiro. The work will replace an old photo panel that had been removed in December 2024.
The previous removal of the panel provoked strong reaction from victims' family members, civil society and the NGO Rio de Paz, which work in the fight against armed violence in the state.
The sculpture represents an effort to keep alive the memory of children who died from stray bullets in the region, seeking to offer a permanent space for reflection on the problem of armed violence in the city.
