President of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Justice Edson Fachin, convened a plenary session for September 15 at 10 a.m. to analyze the Federal Police report that revealed alleged conversations between former banker Daniel Vorcaro and Justice Alexandre de Moraes. Fachin also removed Moraes from the rapporteurship of the Fake News inquiry and assumed the investigation.
Additionally, Fachin suspended decisions previously made by Justices André Mendonça and Dino regarding the removal of Andrei Rodrigues from the PF, demonstrating his intention to centralize control over the case involving his court colleague.
The Supreme Court will analyze the validity of the PF report, which was prepared at the request of Justice André Mendonça himself. The justices will also decide on the motion for annulment filed by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) and whether a formal investigation against Moraes should be opened or dismissed.
On September 1, the PGR declared the annulment of the investigation ordered by Mendonça. The Attorney General's Office argues that the justice should not have requested the investigation into the recipient of Vorcaro's messages without prior approval from the Public Ministry or the Federal Police itself.
