Alentejo 2030 exceeds 50% approval rate

Rádio Campanário9 September 2026 at 22:20

Alentejo 2030 is showing positive progress in the implementation of European funds, with more than half of the program's allocation already committed through approved operations. The approval rate stands at 53.5%, in line with the average of the Regional Programs of Portugal 2030, placing Alentejo among the regions with the highest capacity for approving operations, only surpassed by Lisbon and the North. The Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) of Alentejo highlights that this progress reflects a growing capacity to transform available programming into concrete investment in the territory.

One of the main highlights is the performance of the Just Transition Fund (FTJ), which registers an approval rate of 88.7%, standing 34.6 percentage points above the average of the Regional Programs. ESF+ also shows above-average progress, with an approval rate of 64.7%, higher than the 62.5% recorded on average across Portugal 2030. The data also reveals strong participation from private entities in approved funds, with 61.49% of support corresponding to private entities and 38.51% destined for public entities.

The portfolio of approved operations already exceeds 568 million euros, although the financial execution rate currently stands at 12.7%. CCDR Alentejo considers that this indicator should be analyzed taking into account the nature and scale of the supported projects, which often involve structuring investments with public procurement processes, licensing and construction works that can extend the period between approval and expense certification.

Regarding the N+3 target for 2026, Alentejo 2030 has already submitted approximately 156 million euros to the European Commission, equivalent to approximately 51% of the established target. However, considering approximately 34.5 million euros in executed expenses not yet declared and an estimated certification exceeding 47 million euros by the end of 2026, the estimated execution amounts to approximately 237.5 million euros, corresponding to 78% of the N+3 target, which would place Alentejo only behind the Lisbon Regional Program in this indicator.
