The Local Health Unit of Entre Douro e Vouga achieved significant results in the first six months of 2026, performing more than 10,000 medical consultations and more than 1,400 scheduled surgical procedures compared to the same period in 2025. According to the monthly hospital monitoring data published by the Central Administration of the Health System (ACSS), 201,543 medical consultations were performed, representing a 5.3% growth.
Regarding surgical activity, the ULS performed 14,685 scheduled surgical procedures, a 10.9% increase compared to the same period last year. The highest growth was observed in outpatient surgery, with 11,054 procedures performed, 1,494 more than the previous year, corresponding to a 15.6% increase.
The ACSS data also reveals a positive evolution in the indicator relating to patients enrolled for surgery within the applicable waiting time, which rose from 95.0% to 95.6%. The ULS Entre Douro e Vouga also holds a prominent position compared to hospital institutions in the same group regarding medical consultation production.
Carlos Alberto, President of the Board of Directors of ULS Entre Douro e Vouga, stated that these results reflect the daily work of professionals and the strengthening of healthcare capacity to serve the population, simultaneously representing recognition of the teams' work and a responsibility to continue improving.
