Since the beginning of 2026, the Azores have recorded a decline in air landings, thus totaling the eighth consecutive month of decline. The downward trend has remained consistent throughout this period.
The largest drop occurred in territorial flights, that is, those connecting the Azores to mainland Portugal and Madeira. This category of flights was the most affected by the decrease in passengers.
International flights also recorded a decline, although less pronounced than that seen in territorial flights. Thus, the decline in international landings came second in terms of impact.
