The revision of Silves' Municipal Master Plan is in the characterisation and diagnosis phase, which aims to assess the dynamics of the territory and gather information to support the future land-use planning proposal. The municipality carried out an urban-functional survey in the parish seats to identify, locate and classify the economic activities in operation.
The survey made it possible to account for approximately 1,600 economic activities in the parish seats of the municipality. Armação de Pêra is the locality with the highest volume of activities, followed by Silves and São Bartolomeu de Messines, while the remaining seats show lower values. Services dominate the identified business fabric, followed by commerce and restaurants.
The Municipality of Silves has already requested a preparatory meeting to establish the Advisory Commission that will monitor the progress of the revision work. The municipality advocates that the process should be based on an integrated analysis of the different territorial dynamics, preserving the specific characteristics of each parish and creating conditions to enhance new development opportunities.
The PDM revision procedure is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, namely SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). The information collected will be cross-referenced with other studies and indicators to deepen the diagnosis that will serve as the basis for the revision proposal.
