Fire risk in Portugal reached critical levels during the period under analysis. Six municipalities in the Algarve were placed at maximum danger, the highest level on the risk scale. This situation represents a particularly serious threat for the southern region of the country.
Another 25 municipalities spread across various areas of mainland Portugal are at very high danger. This geographic spread of the risk demonstrates that the situation is not limited only to the Algarve, but affects several areas of the national territory.
The authorities warn of the need for increased vigilance during this period of elevated risk. The combination of high temperatures, low humidity and wind conditions contribute to the worsening of fire danger throughout the country.
