Six municipalities in Faro district at maximum fire danger

Six municipalities in Faro district are classified with maximum fire danger. This classification represents the highest level of the risk scale adopted by Portuguese authorities for rural fires.

Rural fire danger will remain very high in some regions of the country at least until Monday. This situation is due to meteorological conditions favorable to the occurrence and spread of fires.

Several municipalities in Faro district are at maximum fire danger, while 25 municipalities in Santarém, Castelo Branco, Leiria, Portalegre, and Beja districts are at very high fire danger, according to IPMA. More than 40 municipalities across the country are at high danger, and the situation is expected to continue at least until Monday. IPMA forecasts partly cloudy skies, possibility of light rain in the Centre and South, sometimes strong wind on the coast and highlands, and minimum temperatures between 12 and 21 degrees and maximums between 23 and 31 degrees.
