Several municipalities in Faro district are today at maximum fire danger, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere. The municipalities of Monchique, Portimão, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, and Tavira are the most critical in this classification.
IPMA has also placed 25 municipalities in Santarém, Castelo Branco, Leiria, Portalegre, and Beja districts at very high fire danger. Additionally, more than 40 municipalities spread across the districts of Lisbon, Leiria, Santarém, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Setúbal, Évora, Beja, and Faro are at high danger.
The fire danger will remain very high in some regions at least until Monday. IPMA calculates these levels based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and precipitation amounts in the previous 24 hours, using a five-level system ranging from low to maximum.
Today's weather forecast indicates partly cloudy or clear skies, with the possibility of light rain or drizzle until mid-morning in the Centre and South regions. Minimum temperatures range from 12 degrees in Viana do Castelo to 21 degrees in Faro, while maximum temperatures range between 23 degrees in Guarda, Aveiro, and Viana do Castelo and 31 degrees in Évora and Faro.
