The District Political Commission of CDS-PP Algarve accused the Socialist Party of having used an initiative held in Olhão on August 17 as a stage for national political propaganda, instead of focusing on concrete regional problems. According to the centrists, the partisan intervention gave rise to several news stories reproduced by different Algarve media outlets, which was interpreted as an attempt to create the perception of a consolidated political alternative.
CDS-PP Algarve defends that regional discussion should focus on issues such as healthcare, mobility, water, housing, security, seasonal demographic pressure, shortage of professionals, the Algarve Line, EN125, drought, and Ria Formosa. The centrist structure criticized that references to the national political situation were privileged over these regional themes, accusing the PS of instrumentalizing the region.
In response, the centrists listed several investments and projects underway in the Algarve, highlighting the opening in May of the new EN125 Variant in Olhão, with an investment of 14.4 million euros. The party also mentioned the tender for the Central Hospital of the Algarve (426.7 million euros), new family health units in Lagos and Silves, the complete electrification of the Algarve Line (135 million euros), and a 366 million euro program in the area of water resources.
The District Political Commission of CDS-PP Algarve considered that the Algarve deserves more than a political war imported from Lisbon, defending an approach focused on the problems of the population, businesses, municipalities, and regional institutions. "Between propaganda and work, we choose work. Between political noise and solutions, we choose solutions," the centrists concluded.
