The Voluntary Firefighters of Lagoa received a new operational vehicle for rural firefighting, within the scope of the Regional Programme ALGARVE 2030. The delivery took place at the corporation's headquarters and represents a reinforcement of the response capacity in the prevention and combat of forest fires, replacing a vehicle with 28 years. The ceremony was attended by the president of the Municipal Council of Lagoa, Luís Encarnação, by the president of the Board of the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of Lagoa, Francisco Martins, by the president of CCDR Algarve and of the Directive Commission of the Regional Programme ALGARVE 2030, José Apolinário, and by the vice-president of CCDR Algarve, Jorge Botelho.
The operation represents a total investment of 969,900 euros, of which 915,000 euros correspond to eligible expenditure. From this amount, 549,000 euros are co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, while the Municipality of Lagoa ensures a counterpart of 366,000 euros related to the eligible component, to which are added 54,900 euros of non-eligible expenditure. In total, the municipal financial effort amounts to 420,900 euros.
The new vehicle delivered to the Voluntary Firefighters of Lagoa is part of a set of 66 operational vehicles for prevention and firefighting financed by the Regional Programme ALGARVE 2030. Within the scope of this notice, a global investment exceeding 16.3 million euros was approved, with a contribution exceeding 9.1 million euros from ERDF, covering several Algarve municipalities.
According to CCDR Algarve, this investment aims to strengthen the means of fire brigades and municipal civil protection services, improving the response to risks associated with rural fires. The achievement results from cooperation between the municipalities of the Algarve, the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection, AMAL and the Regional Programme ALGARVE 2030, using European funds intended to strengthen the protection of populations and the response capacity of the territory in the face of climate change.
