The Aveirense Theatre presented yesterday, at a press conference, its programming for the next four-month period, running from September to December. The new season stands out for the plurality of artistic languages, crossing music, theatre, dance and contemporary creation, with projects addressing current issues such as housing, climate change, cultural identity and tradition.
Among the highlights is the Everyone Is a Stage – Theatre Beyond the Equator Showcase, dedicated this year to Amazonian theatricalities. Between September 18th and October 3rd, the theatre hosts five performances and three workshops with artists and companies from Manaus, Bogotá, São Paulo and Lima, in an approach that brings up themes such as colonisation processes, contact with indigenous peoples and cultural diversity.
Another central axis is the multidisciplinary programme dedicated to housing, developed from the play The Housing Problem, by Jorge Louraço Figueira. This nucleus includes conversations, a film cycle, a concert and an exhibition, with the exhibition Architects of Freedom on display from October 13th to December 15th, and the concert Home, by Francisco Sasseti, taking place on November 6th.
Music also plays a prominent role, with proposals spanning eras, styles and geographies. The Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra Vienna returns to the Aveirense Theatre on September 28th and October 1st, with a programme dedicated to waltzes, polkas and operettas from the Viennese repertoire. The musical agenda continues with projects such as Happy Birthday Mr. Mercury, by the String and Piano Quintet of the Lisbon Symphony Orchestra, and with initiatives integrated into the Autumn Festivals, in collaboration with the University of Aveiro.
