Individualized rhinoplasty enhances facial features

oglobo8 September 2026 at 22:58

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that modifies a central structure of the face, affecting both facial proportions and, in some cases, respiratory function. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the surgery can change the size, width, profile, tip and asymmetries of the nose, in addition to correcting breathing difficulties associated with structural changes.

The ASPS recommends that the procedure be treated in an individualized manner, with realistic goals during surgical planning. Individualization is fundamental because measurements considered appropriate for a given face do not always produce the same aesthetic balance in another.

A study published in the journal Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and available in the scientific database PubMed analyzed the nasal proportions of women from different ethnic groups, comparing them with the neoclassical canons traditionally used as aesthetic references. The results identified variations among the ethnic groups studied.

Volcanic alert raised to V1 at the Azorean Furnas volcano

The Azores Seismovolcanic Information and Surveillance Centre (CIVISA) today raised the volcanic alert level at Furnas volcano to V1, corresponding to a volcanic system in a metastable equilibrium phase, due to an increase in seismic activity recorded since 11:47 local time. CIVISA's statement indicates that the volcano, located in the municipality of Povoação on São Miguel island, has been showing an increase in seismic events, although all tremors recorded so far have been of low magnitude.

The most energetic earthquake reached magnitude 2.9 on the Richter scale and was felt by the population of Furnas. The volcanic alert will be in effect for eight days, unless new information arises that changes the situation.

Does Lipo HD have artificial results? Surgeon explains

High-definition liposuction (Lipo HD) has gained prominence in Brazil, which ranks first worldwide in the number of aesthetic plastic surgeries, with 289,766 recorded liposuctions. Unlike conventional liposuction, Lipo HD works more selectively on fat deposits, acting on the superficial and deep layers of adipose tissue to create transitions between regions of greater and lesser projection, with the goal of highlighting contours already existing in the patient's anatomy.
