The Special Operations Command (COE) of the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro carried out actions on Tuesday to combat the advance of criminality in communities in the Vargem Grande region, in the Southwest Zone of the city. The operation involved teams from the Shock Police Battalion (BPChq) and targeted primarily the Cesar Maia community.
During the actions, police seized an armored passenger car equipped with gun ports, as well as firearms and drugs. One suspect was arrested in the operation. The vehicle had holes in the windshield and in the side and rear windows, structures that allowed the positioning of weapons during attacks against rival criminals.
According to information gathered by police, the armored car was being used by criminals in territorial disputes and in confrontations with rival groups. In addition to this vehicle, the BPChq teams seized a second automobile in the Cesar Maia community.
