A magnitude 2.9 earthquake on the Richter scale was felt today in some municipalities on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores. The event was recorded by the Azores Seismic and Volcanic Information and Surveillance Centre (CIVISA).
The seismic tremor was recorded at 16:41 local time, which corresponds to 17:41 in Lisbon. The epicenter of the earthquake was located approximately four kilometres west-southwest of Furnas.
CIVISA was the entity responsible for reporting the occurrence of this seismological phenomenon on the island of São Miguel.
