Italy forecasts economic growth close to 1% of GDP, according to current projections. Economist Pietro Reichlin, speaking to Euronews, considered this forecast "realistic", but warned that the country remains "at the bottom of the EU" in terms of economic performance.
The forecast growth will not be sufficient to significantly broaden the budgetary leeway for the 2027 State Budget. Despite increased revenues, the structural conditions of the Italian economy limit the possibilities for fiscal expansion.
Among the factors conditioning the Italian economic situation are low productivity and demographic decline. These structural elements continue to represent significant challenges for the country's sustainable growth.
Italy's position in the context of the European Union remains unfavourable, even with the expected economic recovery, which raises questions about the long-term competitiveness of the Italian economy.
