Deloitte Legal Telles advised footballer Gustavo Varela on his transfer from Benfica to A.C. Monza, of Italy. The international operation involved the coordination of different legal and regulatory frameworks, with the firm accompanying the athlete throughout the entire transfer process.

The advisory included the negotiation and formalization of the contractual instruments associated with the operation, ensuring the protection of the player's interests in an increasingly international and demanding sporting context.

The operation was coordinated by José Gomes Mendes, counsel and head of the Sports Law practice at Deloitte Legal Telles, who led the legal advisory to the player and coordinated with Deloitte Legal Italy on the various legal matters inherent to the transaction.

José Gomes Mendes stated that professional sport is characterized by increasing internationalization and increasingly high levels of legal requirements, underscoring that the ability to provide specialized, close and integrated advisory at an international scale is determinant for the success of this type of operations.
