The Airbus workers decided to maintain the indefinite strike, called by the unions CGT, UGT and ÚTIL, which has been ongoing since August 25. The decision was made in worker assemblies held between Monday and today at factories in Spain.
The vote revealed a very narrow margin among workers. About 51.2% of votes were in favor of continuing the mobilizations, while 48.8% supported the idea of pausing the protests. This narrow difference shows the division that exists among the remaining workforce regarding the continuity of the strike actions.
The strike affects Airbus operations in Spain and represents a showdown between workers and the management of the aerospace company. The continuity of the indefinite strike puts at risk the production at the Spanish factories of the group.
