The crew members of the Quarteira Lifeboat Station assisted yesterday afternoon, September 7, six people who were on board a recreational vessel that was anchored and lost propulsion, off Olhos de Água beach, in the municipality of Albufeira. The alert was received at approximately 4:40 PM, through the vessel itself, and the crew members of the Quarteira Lifeboat Station and elements from the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Faro were activated.
The people were physically well, with no need for medical assistance, and the vessel was escorted to Albufeira Marina. The skipper of the vessel was notified that he could only depart after being subject to an inspection, in order to ensure the conditions of seaworthiness, the National Maritime Authority reported in a statement.
The Local Command of the Maritime Police of Faro took charge of the incident.
