At least four flights scheduled to arrive in the early afternoon this Tuesday at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo were forced to divert due to wind conditions felt in Santa Cruz. The strong wind in the region forced aircraft to seek landing at other destinations.
Flight ENT 7009, operated by airline Enter Air and coming from Warsaw, was scheduled to land at 1:20 PM, but ended up being rerouted to Porto Santo Airport. The runway at the Madeiran airport did not meet conditions for operation due to the strength of the wind.
Flight EJU 6833, operated by easyJet, also failed to land on the Santa Catarina runway. The British airline was forced to divert its route to another airport due to the same adverse weather conditions.
Madeira Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo is known for its challenging landing conditions, frequently affected by strong winds that force flight diversions, especially during the winter months.
