Rogério Santos stepped down as commander of the Voluntários de Évora Firefighters on Tuesday, September 8, after reaching the age of 65, the legal age limit for holding command positions. Over 16 years, he led the corporation's command, becoming a reference figure in rescue and protection of the populations of the district of Évora.

With 46 years of connection to the fire service, 34 of which dedicated to command, Rogério Santos was, until his departure, the oldest serving commander in the district of Évora. His departure marks the end of a long career dedicated to the corporation and the protection of the community.

According to information from Rádio Campanário, João Ratinho is expected to assume the position of new commander of the Voluntários de Évora Firefighters. The change in command represents a new chapter for the corporation after more than a decade under the leadership of Rogério Santos.

The departure comes as a result of reaching the legal age limit of 65. Despite leaving command, Rogério Santos maintains a connection of nearly five decades to the firefighting world, carrying with him a legacy of dedication and service to the community.
