A 16-year-old teenager managed to escape an attempted kidnapping on Dona Romana Street, in Engenho Novo, Rio's North Zone, on Friday night (4). The young woman was returning from school when she was pulled into a car. Inside the vehicle, she saw an opportunity, used pepper spray against the suspect and jumped from the moving car, managing to escape.
According to the teenager's father, a friend of hers was also allegedly pursued by a man on a motorcycle in the vicinity of Dona Romana Street, in an incident that occurred about two weeks ago. The girl managed to escape that situation, just like the kidnapping victim.
The family does not know if there is any connection between the two cases. However, the young woman's father stated that the pursuit suffered by the friend increased the family's concern about safety in the area.
The family is now trying to reconstruct the movements of the man who approached the teenager on the night of the kidnapping, seeking to identify the suspect and better understand what happened.
