The camp of "I'm a Celebrity: The Wild Frontier," the Canadian version of the British reality show "I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!", was put on alert after a hiker was attacked by a bear near the filming location, in Callaghan Valley, British Columbia. The woman was taken by helicopter to a hospital over the weekend and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities closed public access to trails in the area while investigating the attack. According to the British Columbia Conservation Service, three hikers encountered two bears before one of them attacked the woman. An adult male black bear later located in the area was put down for safety reasons, although it has not yet been confirmed if he was responsible for the attack.
Produced by ITV, the show brings celebrities together in nature challenges. This special edition is being filmed in Canada and places participants in extreme situations in the wild environment.
