Luís Rufo, described as a "fake lawyer", remained silent at the start of the trial taking place at the Braga court. The man is charged as a defendant in the case.
Luís Rufo faces 141 crimes of usurpation of functions, according to which he allegedly acted illegally in the capacity of a lawyer without having the proper training or professional qualification to practice law.
The trial began this week at the Judicial Court of the District of Braga, where the defendant chose not to make a statement at this initial phase of the proceedings.
This case arises in a context in which various situations of illegal practice of law have been identified in Portugal, with people representing others in legal proceedings without being registered with the Bar Association.
