Seven Algarve municipalities – Monchique, Portimão, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira and Castro Marim – are today with maximum wildfire danger, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). Aljezur, Vila do Bispo, Lagos, Alcoutim and Vila Real de Santo António present very high risk, while Lagoa, Albufeira, Faro and Olhão have high danger. IPMA determines rural fire danger in five levels, based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and precipitation in the previous 24 hours.
