The president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Minister Edson Fachin, canceled the meeting he had scheduled with the president of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), Beto Simonetti, for Wednesday. According to interlocutors, Simonetti was informed about the postponement on Monday. Fachin apologized and said he would schedule another day, but there is still no forecast for when the meeting will take place.
Despite the cancellation, Simonetti convened an extraordinary meeting of the College of Sectional Presidents of the OAB. The president of the Order has advocated that any misconduct by ministers should be investigated with the same rigor applied to other citizens.
The objective of the meeting with Fachin was to address the investigations involving Ministers Alexandre de Moraes and André Mendonça in the context of investigations related to businessman Daniel Vorcaro. The crisis at the STF has prompted manifestations from different OAB sectionals, which released notes last week.
