At an event held on Paulista Avenue this Monday (7), presidential candidate Bolsonaro (PL) made speeches attacking Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister Alexandre de Moraes. During the event, Bolsonaro defended Moraes's removal from the Court and called him a "bad apple," linking the minister to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
Bolsonaro stated that "whoever votes for Lula is voting for Alexandre de Moraes" and promised that he would not allow Lula to appoint any more ministers to the STF. The PL candidate announced that he will appoint five new ministers to the Court if elected, and that Moraes "will fall."
The presidential contender detailed the criteria he will use to choose future STF ministers. According to Bolsonaro, he will appoint men and women who are against abortion, against drugs, against gender ideology in schools, who respect the Constitution, who do not persecute political opponents, and who help restore the credibility of the tribunal.
Unlike other events where he usually criticizes the Court more broadly, Bolsonaro focused his criticism specifically on Moraes and avoided attacks on the STF as a whole. The candidate stated that he will work to "restore the credibility of the Supreme Court."
