The Portuguese government intends to value higher professional technical courses that currently face low levels of employment and wages. This intention comes at a time when assessments are being made about the state of these courses.
The identified diagnosis points to three major challenges: the funding of these courses, their employability, and recognition by the State and public administration careers. These problems have been limiting the development and valorization of these training pathways.
Higher technical courses complete a decade of existence this year. Over these 10 years, they have sought to establish themselves as a pathway for higher professional qualification, but face difficulties in asserting themselves in the labor market and public administration.
