China completes first tunnel of railway linking Central Asia and Europe

SIC Notícias7 September 2026 at 18:35

China has completed the construction of the first tunnel of the ambitious railway project that aims to link Central Asia to Europe. This infrastructure represents a significant milestone in the expansion of land trade routes between the Asian and European continents.

The main objective of this work is to establish a faster land route to Europe, facilitating the transport of goods between the two regions. The new railway connection promises to significantly reduce travel times for international trade.

The project also emerges as a strategy to reduce dependence on commercial corridors that cross Russian territory. This initiative is part of a broader effort to diversify transport routes and reduce geopolitical vulnerability in global supply chains.
