"Amo-te muito, estou com saudades": a mother's testimony who clings to a voice message to cope with the pain of losing her son

Correio da Manhã7 September 2026 at 16:57

This week's "Doa a Quem Doer" program presented the testimony of Susana Oliveira, mother of Diogo Silva, a 28-year-old who was killed with five gunshots in March 2024, in the Bairro de Ramalde. Susana shared her story of loss and grief, revealing how she copes with the pain of having lost her son.

Diogo Silva was 28 years old when he was executed with five gunshots in Bairro de Ramalde. The young man was murdered in early 2024, at a time when not all the circumstances or those responsible for the crime had yet been identified.

Susana Oliveira keeps an audio message from her son as a way of dealing with the pain of loss. In the message, Diogo tells his mother "Amo-te muito, estou com saudades" (I love you very much, I miss you), words that have become a form of comfort and connection with the memory of her murdered son.

Susana's testimony was shared on the "Doa a Quem Doer" program, which gives a voice to people who have been through situations of loss and violence, seeking to help society understand the impact of these crimes on the families of victims.

CASE OF MIRANDELA FIREFIGHTERS REACHES TRIAL: PROSECUTION POINTS TO SCHEME OF 121 THOUSAND EUROS IN WILDFIRE COMBAT SUBSIDIES

The trial of the case involving the Voluntary Firefighters of Mirandela began at the Judicial Court of Bragança, with former commander Edgar Trigo, current commander Luís Carlos Soares and the Humanitarian Association of Firefighters as defendants, accused of embezzlement, abuse of power and falsification of documents related to subsidies from the Special Forest Fire Combat Device between 2014 and 2017. The Public Prosecution argues that 'ghost' teams were reported to Civil Protection and that firefighters received five euros less per shift, in a scheme that allegedly provided the institution with a financial advantage of 121,524.99 euros. The defenses contest the accusations, stating that there was no appropriation of public funds. The trial has around a hundred witnesses and is expected to last several sessions.
